Where Can I Book Stretcher Transport for Post-Surgery Care in Pinellas County?

After surgery, the last thing you should have to worry about is how to get home safely. For patients who cannot sit upright or need to remain lying down during transport, standard wheelchair vans or rideshare vehicles simply aren't an option. That's where stretcher transportation comes in — and Skyline Transport is here to help.

We provide professional, non-emergency stretcher transport for patients recovering from surgery across Pinellas County, including St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Largo, Dunedin, Tarpon Springs, and surrounding communities.

What Is Non-Emergency Stretcher Transport?

Stretcher transport is a form of non-emergency medical transportation designed for patients who must remain in a lying-down position during their ride. This is specifically for individuals who:

  • Cannot sit upright due to their surgery or medical condition

  • Are recovering from abdominal, back, or orthopedic procedures

  • Have been discharged from a hospital or surgical center but are not stable enough to sit in a standard vehicle

  • Require comfort and stability during transit that a regular car or rideshare cannot provide

Our stretcher vehicles are purpose-built for this type of transport, with securement systems that keep the patient safe and stable throughout the ride.

What to Expect When You Book Stretcher Transport

Before the Procedure

Call us at (813) 330-3200 or (800) 515-8028 or request a quote online to schedule your return ride home. It's best to book at least 24–48 hours in advance, though we do our best to accommodate same-day and next-day requests.

What to Have Ready When You Call

  • The date and approximate discharge time

  • The pickup address (hospital, surgical center, or facility)

  • The drop-off address (home, rehab facility, or skilled nursing facility)

  • The patient's name and any relevant mobility or medical notes

  • Whether a companion will be riding along (one companion is permitted)

On the Day of Transport

Our driver arrives at the facility with the stretcher, comes inside to assist the patient, and ensures they are safely and comfortably secured before departure. The patient remains on the stretcher for the entire ride — no transfers, no unnecessary movement. Upon arrival, the driver assists the patient from the vehicle to their destination.
