Hospice Stretcher Transportation: Helping Patients Travel Safely

When someone is receiving hospice care, comfort and dignity become the focus. In many situations, the person can no longer sit upright for transportation and needs to remain lying down during the trip. In these cases, stretcher transportation is often the safest option.

Stretcher transportation allows a patient to remain lying down during the entire trip while being transported in a vehicle designed for medical transport. This helps keep the patient comfortable and supported throughout the ride.

Many hospice stretcher transports are one way trips. This might be a hospital discharge to hospice, hospice to another care location, or hospice to home. It is also very common for family members to call when they want to bring their loved one home from hospice.

Skyline Transport provides stretcher transportation throughout the State of Florida and works with families, hospitals, and hospice teams to help coordinate these transports.

Because one way and longer distance stretcher transports require more planning than routine local medical appointment transportation, we ask that all quote requests be submitted through our online request form so our team can review the trip and help coordinate the transport.

If the patient requires oxygen, please include how many liters per minute (LPM) they are currently on. If there are any special requests or anything our team should know about the patient, please include that in the quote request as well.
