Transportation After Anesthesia: When Uber or Lyft Is Not Allowed

Many surgery centers and outpatient procedure facilities require patients to have a safe ride home after anesthesia. If you are going under anesthesia or sedation, the facility may not allow you to leave using a rideshare service such as Uber or Lyft.

This is because patients who have received anesthesia often need additional assistance and supervision after the procedure. In many cases, surgery centers require transportation to be provided by a responsible adult or a licensed medical transportation provider.

Skyline Transport is a licensed and insured non-emergency medical transportation company that can assist with transportation after procedures requiring anesthesia. Our team is able to help patients safely get from the surgery center to their home or recovery location.

Depending on the patient’s needs, transportation may be provided in a wheelchair-accessible vehicle or by stretcher if the individual is unable to sit upright comfortably after the procedure.

Skyline Transport provides service throughout Hillsborough County and Pinellas County in Florida and works with patients, families, and surgery centers who need safe transportation after outpatient procedures.

If you plan to use insurance to cover transportation, you will need to contact your insurance carrier first to verify whether your plan includes a non-emergency medical transportation benefit. If the benefit is available, the insurance company will provide instructions on how the transportation should be scheduled.

If insurance does not cover the trip, private pay transportation may still be available.
